Today April 17, 2012 is the deadline for individual tax returns. An extension (Form 4868) should be filed today either by mail or electronically. We can file an electronic extension for clients today.

On 2/17/12 Congress passed legislation that continues the Social Security Tax cut for all of 2012. This will reduce the F.I.C.A. (social security tax) for all of 2012. This is a 2 percent cut. For employers this will impact tax withheld from employees paychecks.
